Contract Position: PIPEDA Investigator
PIPEDA Investigations and Toronto Office start up, Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, Toronto, ON, Canada – Contract position up to 5 months
The mission of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) is to protect and promote the privacy rights of individuals by overseeing compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). The Office of Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) announced in May the opening of a Toronto office with the mandate of conducting outreach and some PIPEDA investigations. This contract position will conduct PIPEDA investigations and participate in the start-up activities for the office.
Detailed Position Description:
- In-depth knowledge of PIPEDA legislation, case summaries, guidance documents issued by the OPC
- Minimum of 2 years experience dealing with PIPEDA investigations
- Experience working with the OPC
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Individual must work from the Toronto Office located at 25 St. Clair Avenue East
- Per diem rate of $500-$1000 per day based on experience
Responsibilities and Activities:
- Manages and conducts PIPEDA investigations and breaches following PIPEDA legislation, OPC case summaries, guidance documents and procedures, and in complying with the applicable rules of natural justice and procedural fairness;
- Plans investigations, determines analytical methodologies and associated tools and practices;
- Provides consistent, rigorous and fair analyses, and negotiates solutions and remedies;
- Document and prepares investigators reports, findings reports, evidence-based recommendations, briefing notes and memorandum;
- Follows-up on recommendations to organizations, as required; and
- Provides recommendations and establishes policies, processes and procedures related to investigations and development of procedures for the set-up and administration of the Toronto office.
