Ottawa, May 28, 2002 - The Privacy Commissioner of Canada, George Radwanski, tabled his first Report to Parliament Concerning Substantially Similar Provincial Legislation today in the House of Commons and the Senate.
Under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents (PIPED) Act, the Privacy Commissioner is required to report annually to the Parliament of Canada on the extent to which the provinces have enacted legislation that is deemed to be "substantially similar" to the PIPED Act.
The report is available in electronic format on his Office's Web site at www.priv.gc.ca and in hard copy by calling 1-800-282-1376.
