Privacy Commissioner launches privacy mobile application
The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) today launched myPRIVACYapp, a mobile application designed to educate users on how to better protect personal information on their mobile devices.
Mobile devices such as smart phones, laptops and tablets have rapidly become part of daily life. And while these tools offer tremendous convenience and keep us connected, they can hold massive amounts of our personal information.
The myPRIVACYapp is free and available for download on Apple, Android and Blackberry devices. Search for the myPRIVACYapp in the mobile app store for your device, or click on the appropriate link below using your mobile device:
The OPC is mandated by Parliament to act as an ombudsman and guardian of privacy rights in Canada. We have a number of resources available on our web site to help individuals protect their personal information, including a fact sheet specifically for individuals looking for information on protecting personal information on mobile devices and a fact sheet with 10 workplace tips for protecting personal information on mobile devices.
