Commissioner shares views on Canada’s national security framework with Parliament

Today, Privacy Commissioner of Canada, Daniel Therrien, appeared before the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security (SECU) to participate in the study on Canada’s national security framework.

His opening remarks focused on the Government’s National Security Green Paper, which Public Safety Canada released in support of its Consultation on National Security. The Commissioner provided preliminary comments on some key privacy issues raised in the paper, and answered questions from the Committee members. In his remarks, the Commissioner noted he would present a formal response to the Consultation by December 1, 2016.
