Privacy authorities for Canada and United Kingdom to announce findings of joint investigation into global data breach at 23andMe

Privacy Commissioner of Canada Philippe Dufresne and UK Information Commissioner John Edwards will hold a news conference to discuss the findings of their joint investigation into a global data breach at direct-to-consumer genetic testing company 23andMe.

The news conference will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

Location: National Press Theatre, Room 325, 180 Wellington Street, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Accredited journalists can also join online (see below for details).

Format: The news conference will begin with statements from Privacy Commissioner of Canada Philippe Dufresne and UK Information Commissioner John Edwards. There will be time allocated after for questions from reporters.

Members of the media can participate in the question-and-answer portion of this event in person or via Zoom.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
