Commissioner Dufresne to host the 2025 G7 Data Protection and Privacy Authorities Roundtable
June 10, 2025 – Gatineau, Quebec
Privacy Commissioner of Canada Philippe Dufresne will host the 2025 G7 Data Protection and Privacy Authorities Roundtable as Canada holds the Group of Seven (G7) Presidency this year.
Commissioner Dufresne will welcome members of the G7 Data Protection and Privacy Authorities Roundtable to the National Capital Region on June 18 and 19 for the group’s annual meeting to advance shared privacy and data protection priorities.
The G7 data protection and privacy authorities will focus on the theme of “Championing privacy in a digital age: Collective action today for a trusted tomorrow.” This will include discussions on emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.
The Roundtable promotes high standards for privacy and the protection of personal information when data flows across borders and when new technologies emerge. Members work to enhance cooperation and best practices in global privacy enforcement.
The Roundtable also provides a forum for Canada to build global alliances, advocate for consistent privacy laws and standards throughout the world and protect Canadians in the global economy.
The event in Canada will mark the fifth annual meeting of the G7 Data Protection and Privacy Authorities Roundtable since the group was launched in 2021.
The G7 Data Protection and Privacy Authorities Roundtable includes representatives from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union.
