Interacting with OPC personnel

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) is committed to protecting the health and safety of our employees. Disrespectful or abusive behaviour toward OPC staff will not be tolerated.

Disrespectful or abusive behaviours include threats, harassment or intimidation. If any individual threatens, harasses or intimidates OPC staff, the OPC may decide to restrict the interactions of that individual with our staff.

These restrictions could involve limiting communications with the OPC to a certain format (for example, email), frequency or duration. Restrictions may also include limiting the number of issues to be discussed at one time. We may also decide to direct all communications to management.

Should restrictions be necessary, the OPC will inform the individual of the specific measures, and how the individual can expect to interact with us.

The OPC understands that some individuals may be under stress when raising concerns relating to their personal information with our office. In all instances, the OPC commits to communicating respectfully, professionally and civilly.
