Tabling of the Privacy Commissioner’s annual report

OTTAWA – The Privacy Commissioner of Canada’s latest annual report is expected to be tabled in Parliament on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at approximately 10 a.m. ET.

The report sets out the Commissioner’s recommendations for modernizing Canada’s federal privacy laws.

It also includes the findings of an investigation related to Statistics Canada and its collection of personal information from private sector organizations.

The annual report highlights the office’s work on key issues, including investigations, under both the Privacy Act, which applies to the public sector, and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the federal private sector privacy law.

Privacy Commissioner Daniel Therrien will hold a news conference to discuss his annual report.
