A Data Privacy Day conversation with Canada’s Privacy Commissioner

OTTAWA – To mark Data Privacy Day, Commissioner Daniel Therrien will speak at the University of Ottawa as part of an event organized by the Centre for Law, Technology and Society.

The Commissioner will discuss Canadian privacy laws and the need to build trust through legislative reform.

Data Privacy Day is an international effort to empower individuals and encourage businesses to respect privacy, safeguard data and enable trust. Canada has observed Data Privacy Day on January 28 since 2008. The day commemorates the 1981 signing of the first legally binding international treaty on privacy and data protection.
